Dynamic Modeling and Analysis for the Reentry Vehicle with a Variable Bent Tail
It is an innovative concept to control the reentry flight vehicle using a deflectable tail. In the paper, the effect of the deflection of the tail to the stability and attitude of the vehicle with a variable bent tail is present. The multi-body dynamic model for the whole vehicle is given. According to the real flight states of the reentry vehicle, the linear motion equations are gotten. The research shows that the angular velocity of the deflection of the tail can affect the stability of lateral motion of the vehicle. The value range of the angular velocity of the deflectable tail is present to keep the stability of motion using Routh Criterion. The result of the simulation shows that the attack angle and side sliding angle of the main body of the vehicle change to the opposite direction of the deflection of the tail because of the interaction between the tail and forward body of the vehicle. The interaction between the tail and forward body of the vehicle can increase the control efficiency in the pitch and yaw. But the deflection can burden the roll control.
