Geometric Nonlinear Static Force Analysis on the Flexible Mineral Transporting Pipe for Sea Mining

Because of large deformation of the transporting pipe, the geometric nonlinear finite element theory has been applied to analyse the transporting system. For the fact that the transporting pipe is under the interaction of the mining vehicle and the ship, the gravity of the transporting pipe, inner liquid and the buoyancy attached to the pipe are considered together. Three different transporting systems have been discussed. Conclusion can be drawn from the comparative research that simple mineral transporting system can not meet the requirements for deep-sea mining. The ideal mining transporting system can be obtained by installing buoy along the under part of the transporting pipe. Pipe with the smallest density is the first choice because it impacts great influence on the performance of the sea mining system.
