Design and Modeling of an Extended-Range Electric City-bus Based on ADVIOSR
The pure electric city-bus has a drawback of short range which limits its application. This paper aims to apply an extended-range module on an electric city-bus to evaluate its performance. Based on the electric vehicle simulator ADVISOR, an extended-range electric city-bus model is established, which is consist of wheel, body, motor/controller, extendedrange module, battery, power bus, etc. Furthermore, Operating with the power control strategy based on a continuous, stability, low-intensity (CSL) charge mode, the paper reveals its performances by simulation. Meanwhile, The simulation results of extended range city bus indicate that the driving range can be largely extended comparing with an electric city-bus. Finally, according to the parameters optimization, the capacity of battery is able to be reduced. Under different conditions, using different transmission ratio can improve the motor efficiency.
