Research Based on FARO in Archaize Furnitures Digital Model Reconstruction and Innovative Design & Manufacturing

This paper expatiates the application of reverse engineering based on data collection equipment of FARO scanner in the process of archaize furnitures digital model reconstruction and product innovation in CAD/CAM digital machining process. First step is the point cloud data acquisition, data pretreatment and surface reconstruction to archaize furniture components. Next step is redesign by UG software as the platform of CAD/CAM. At last, UG software exports NC codes or STL files, which drive rapid forming machine to manufacture a product or a prototype. And it can also prove that this methodology is feasible in the field of industrial design.
