Rethinking on Teaching Methods of Design Sketching and Presentation

Current domestic teaching methods of design sketching are antiquated and unable to meet practical needs of students who require professional trainings. There are two biggest problems, maybe the most outstanding serious problems in design sketching course. Firstly, the content of this course cannot play a good transitional role in product design curriculum. It lacks application on knowledge of the former foundation courses such as charcoal drawing, graphic composition and three-dimensional constitutes. Its also short of sketching practices on design concept presentation which is more helpful in the latter core courses. Secondly, our students lack effective applicable training methods because of different basic fundamentals and various personalities. To the problems above it offers some new and practical helpful teaching methods and approaches. Firstly, we will add more training in strengthening basic form sketching techniques which can extremely hence students quick drawing skills. Secondly, the theme design will be arranged in the course. In these training sections students will learn how to express their ideas with different forms changing by integrating sketching and composition methods. It will not only improve drawing techniques but also increase application experiences on design concepts presentation methods. Thirdly, for different characteristics of the students, it provides some special training programs, such as reverse the technique training and graffiti practice.
