Self-relief Products for Earthquake Mitigation according to Grand Earthquake in Japan
On March 11, 2011, a magnitude 9.0 earthquake occurred in Japans coastal waters and triggered the subsequently horrible tsunami, which resulted in the nuclear leakage accident. The massive earthquake drove us to rethink of the research and design of self-help products about earthquake disaster mitigation. And we further recognized the importance of the quality of life reflected in the design of self-help products about earthquake disaster mitigation. So how do we design self-help products about earthquake disaster mitigation and make full use of them to meet the quality of life for people? Through the domestic and foreign researches of selfhelp products about earthquake disaster mitigation, this paper, based on the time when the earthquake took place, puts forward the appropriate design goals and requirements of products about earthquake disaster mitigation in three stages of pre-disaster, disaster and after-disaster.
