The Power of Graphics——Looking at Graphic Design from The Perspectives of Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics
This paper aims to make a preliminary investigation into the objectivity of graphic design, from the perspective of mechanical engineering, mechanics, and related architecture. Based on the law of form beauty and combining the theory of architecture, psychology, visual communication, and other related subjects, the paper uses contrastive, analytical, and integrated methods to study visual perception of graphic design. Furthermore, comparisons are conducted among mechanical engineering, mechanics, and architecture and graphic design from the aspect of equilibrium and structural analysis. It is found that these three elements exhibit parallel developing patterns, and thus the concept of visual perception can be identified which exactly shows the power of graphics.
