Numerical Simulation on the Collapse Process of Port Silo under Demolition Blasting

In the present contribution, numerical analyses were performed to investigate the collapse kinematics of structures subjected to blast loadings. The port silo collapse process is simulated using FEM software LSDYNA with separate mod-el. The simulated collapse process of the silos is compared with corresponding engineering practice. Result shows that there is good agreement between the simulation and practice. With the simulation method applied in this contribution, collapse of reinforced concrete structures in demolition blasting can be studied, and then the blasting design can be improved according to the simulation before engineering practice.
