The Simulation of Interface Wave in Steel Explosive Welding
Explosive welding is an industrial technology of producing the metal composite materials. It has been widely used to make bi-metallic plates and tubes and so on. An interface wave and a jet are two master phenomena in the process of explosive welding. Among them, the interface wave of explosive welding is an important standard of welding quality judgment In this work, the Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) method in the ANSYS/LS-DYNA 11.0 was used to do simulation research of the interface wave in the same steel explosive welding. On the basis of Johnson-Cook material model and Gruneisen state equation, it established a kind of thermoplastic hydrodynamic model. This model reproduces the process of forming interface wave in explosive welding. The simulation used the SPH method showed that the interface wave and the jet were simulated vividly. Additionally, compared the simulation results with the experimental results, it proves that the simulation errors are smalL And the simulation error decreases with the collision velocity of flyer plate increases. So the thermoplastic hydrodynamic model used in this work is significant to study the interface wave of explosive welding. Especially, it is that the higher collision velocities of the flyer plate the more applicable to use this model to simulate the interface wave in explosive welding.
