Effects of additives on the long-chain fatty acid of reed silage

Introduction: The reed(Phragmites australis Cav. Trin. ex Sterd) is the high-protein and high-yielding forage grass. The ensilage method may improve its palatability and enhance the value of feed effectively. The long-chain fatty acid occupies the total fat acid content 95% in the forage. The linoleic acid and linolenic acid are main precursors of conjugate linoleic acid which is synthetised in the ruminant rumen. The conjugate linoleic acid has the vital significance to the quality of ruminant product. This article has mainly studied the effects of the chemical additive on the long-chain fat acid content of the reed silage.
