Determination of appropriate stocking rate of cattle grazing on the Leymus Chinensis meadow steppe of Inner Mongolia

Introduction: It has been well recognised that overutilization of natural resources and inappropriate grazing management lead to seriously degradation of the natural grasslands in the Inner Mongolian region. Among them, overgrazing is one of the key contributors to the grassland deterioration (Cui et al., 2005). It is therefore, essential to determine appropriate stocking rates of livestock animals for maintaining grassland sustainability (Zhao et al., 2007), which was the aim of this case study being carried out on the Hulunbeir meadow steppe.
