Risk of Social Disruption and Integration Function Development of News Products of Traditional Media in the Digital Age
Traditional media are now facing a great challenge from digital media, especially the Internet, so the survival and development of traditional media and the innovation of the traditional medias products, especially news products, in the digital age have become hot issues. Based on the theory of the gratification-utility niche, the relationships between traditional media and new media include time displacement and functional displacement. So when the emergence and development of new digital media has brought about the scientific and technological progress, as well as the significant transformation of social structure in which some social risks, such as social disruption also appeared, we could to develop the integration function of news products of traditional media in order to overcome the risk of social disruption and avoid the displacement of traditional media by digital media. And this paper proposes that the production and effects of social integration function of news products can be realized in two ways: providing the non-choice news to share common experience, and expressing mainstream values through agenda setting to guide public opinion.
