High power laser beam welding of novel vehicle structures
Introduction In recent years, the increasing appeal for saving energy, reducing exhaust, improving performance and lowering cost hastens vehicle manufacturers develop various innovative structures. Laser beam welding has been introduced to join those structures for its excellent flexibility, unprecedented weld quality and high productivity. Laser—arc hybrid welding can further improve the bridge ability, weld formation and process stability. In this presentation, laser and laser-TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) arc hybrid welding of lightweight sidewall panel of passenger train and thrust chamber of regenerative cooling rocket engine is reported.
