High power diode laser technology and its applications in materials Processing

The recent progress of high power laser diodes in the novel structures, new technologies, new achievements are described, and the development tendency in the respects of high electro-optical conversion efficiency, high output power, high beam quality and high reliability are also prospected. Moreover, the direct applications of high power, high beam quality laser diodes in the field of laser cutting, welding, cladding and surface treatment are discussed. At last, some important achievements of the author in this field, mainly including manufacturing technology of high power diode laser u-nits, and recent advance on direct diode laser processing sources with KWoutput high beam quality by polarization multiplexing and wavelength multiplexing, are introduced.
