Experimental Study on Laser Cladding Forming Inclined thin-walled parts

It is very important of investigating the cladding height of inclined thin-walled part for improving the quality of the part formed by laser cladding forming. Using quarter circle scanning path, this research performed experiments of inward inclined thin-walled parts and outward inclined thin-walled parts by laser cladding forming respectively. To guarantee total zincrement close to the cladding height, thin-walled parts with different single-layer offset used different z-increment. The experimental results showed that the cladding height of inclined thinwalled part decreases with the offset increasing. By the comparison of the cladding height of inward inclined thin-walled parts and outward inclined thinwalled parts with the same offset, the cladding height of outward inclined thin-walled parts is higher than that of the inward one, but outward inclined thin-walled parts have smaller inclination angles. The inclination limit of inward inclined thin-walled parts and outward inclined thin-walled parts was studied. The single-layer utmost offset value of inward inclined thin-walled part is between 0. 09mm and 0. lmm, and that of the outward one is between 0. 1 mm and 0. 11 mm. Both utmost inclination angles are approximate 40°. When the cladding part reaches its inclination limit, continuing increase of the offset or reduction of the z-increment leads to the aggravation of the collapse of the cladding part and reduces the cladding height sharply.
