The Role of Entrepreneurship Education in University Students’ Entrepreneurial Intention in China
We updated Shaperos intention-based model by embedding entrepreneurship education and entrepreneurship knowledge in this study. We conducted estimation on 494 effective questionnaire feedbacks from 10 Chinese universities. Our findings show that (1) entrepreneurship education plays more important role than prior entrepreneurial experience in establishing individuals entrepreneurship knowledge base; (2) Prior exposure to entrepreneurial experience is significantly negative related to students’ entrepreneurial intention in China; (3) entrepreneurship education has a significant positive cause effect on Chinese students’ entrepreneurial intention (4) and a significantly positive interactive impact through gender, university type, and study major type; (5) entrepreneurship education can be more rewarded to students’ entrepreneurial intention in technology-based universities and majors than in non-tech universities and majors, and more effective for males than females; and (6) perceived desirability is positive related to entrepreneurial intention.
