Mathematical Model and Simulation of a Hydraulic Arresting Gear System

A hydraulic damping arresting gear system in aircraft carriers being in service is studied. Constant runout control valve device and hydraulic cylinder device which are two key parts of the arresting system are studied. Mathematical model of the hydraulic arresting gear system is developed. Then,roles of the constant runout control valve device and the hydraulic pressure device are analyzed. Simulation model based on the mathematical model is constructed,and simulation experiments are carried out. It is the result that: a 50000 pound landing aircraft is stopped in the constant distance provided its engaging speed is in the range of 110 knots. The main hydraulic cylinder is the most important device absorbing kinetic energy of the aircraft.
