Radiation Losses from Surface Irregularities for Sensitivity Enhancement of a Fiber-Optic Refractive Index Sensor

摘要：

Surface irregularities are constructed artificially to introduce radiation lose, which is a function of the refractive index of surrounding medium. We demonstrate here how it works in improving the sensitivity. Extended abstract Numerous structures of fiber-optic refractive index sensor (FORIS) have been proposed to enhance their sensitivity,such as stripped cladding.
