Resonant characteristics of metallic gratings by combination of the plane wave expansion method and the boundary element method

Resonant characteristics of metallic gratings are investigated by the periodical boundary element method. The resonant wavelength and their field distributions are numerically simulated. The physics origins of the resonant wavelengths are analyzed. The results show that three resonant wavelengths are attributed to the mental—dielectric material, the metallic grating, and the F-P resonance of slit. It can be found potential applications in nanolithography,super-resolution imaging and so on.
