Energy Consumption in Defluoridation of Geothermal Water by Electroflocculation
Electrocoagulation technology was used to treat high fluorine content geothermal water. The defluoridation efficiency and operating costs were discussed synthetically. The results showed that the defluoridation efficiency achieved the best result in all tests at electrode spacing of 0.5cm, A/V of 80 m2/m3, current density of 10 A/m2, without changing pH and temperature, which is accorded with the strict requirements of the Drinking Water Standard of China (F-<1.0 mg /L). As a result, it was seen that energy consumption forfluoride removal by electrocoagulation could be minimized at optimum conditions.
