Degradation of VX under Simulated Natural Conditions
In order to predict V-type agents hydrolysis in natural environment on the basis of experimental data, degradation of O-ethyl S-2-(diisopropylamino)ethyl methylphosphonothiolate (VX) under different simulated natural conditions was investigated by GC/MS. It was found that hydrolysis of VX leads primarily to cleavage of the P-S bond forming non-toxic compounds, which is mainly affected by the factors of temperature, humidity and irradiation.
