Temporal and Spatial Analysis of Water Quality Evolvement in the Upstream Huangpu River

The upstream Huangpu River is the main drinking water source for City of Shanghai. However, with the rapid economic development, the pollution of Huangpu River has become more and more serious recently. In this paper, conventional indicators (DO, TP, TN, CODMn) of water quality for the upstream Huangpu River during the years of 2000-2005 were analyzed. Results indicated that the water quality in Xuputang-Dongxinzhen ferry performed the worst, while in Dazhushe, Dianfeng and Taipuhe Bridge, the water quality was relatively good. In nearly all the monitoring sites, the concentrations of TP and TN were keeping at high levels which can cause eutrophication problem in the water and need to be paid enough attention.
