Combined Processes of Up-flow Hydrolysis Reactor and A/O for Treating Domestic Sewage

In this research, hydrolysis reactor as a pretreatment process adopting up-flow granular sludge bed configuration was investigated on its feasibility and process performance, using domestic sewage. The performance of hydrolysis reactor in combination with A/O system for domestic sewage treatment at an average ambient air temperature of 23 ℃ had been investigated. The results showed that a combined system operated at a total HRT of 23 h represented a cost effective sewage treatment process. The average COD TN, SS, and TP concentrations measured in the final effluent of the hydrolysis-A/O system amounted to 40.26, 13.68, 12.00 mg/L and 0.63 mg/L, respectively; corresponding to the overall removal efficiency of 90.40% for COD, 66.36% for TN, 95.38% for SS and 89.15% for TP. The total process provided a final effluent containing a low concentration.
