Comparison of the Oil Degradation Ability of Free and Immobilized Microorganisms under Single Factor Condition

In order to study microorganisms application in bioremediation of oil contaminated soil, high-efficiency oil-degrading strains SM-1 and MM-7 were screened as experimental strains. The natural organic material (YJ-07) was designed as a carrier to obtain immobilized microorganism by adsorption method. The effect of different single factors on both free and immobilized oil-degrading strains were investigated. The results show that single factors including pH, initial oil concentration, inoculation quantity and salinity have a certain influence on oil degradation. Different strains have their particular optimum degradation conditions. The oil degradation efficiency of immobilized strain is better than free strain in every single-factor and the optimum condition range and the oil degradation rate of immobilized strain is higher than free strain by 10%-43%, so immobilized strain has greater tolerance for changes of environmental factors. The degradation efficiency of mixed strains is slightly better than the single strain.
