Photocatalytic Degradation of Rhodamine B on TiO2/Bentonite Composite under UV-light Irradiation
TiO2/bentonite samples were prepared via sol-gel method, and calcined at different temperatures. These samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), BET method. The photocatalytic activities of the samples were tested by the effect of the rhodamine B(RhB) photodegradation under ultraviolet (UV) irradiation. The results showed that TiO2/bentonite catalysts exhibited about 6.5 % lower efficiency for mineralizing RhB in terms of chemical oxygen demand (COD) changes than the well-known commercial TiO2 photocatalyst P25, while the TiO2/bentonite was much more easier separated from aqueous suspensions than P25 by sedimentation after the reaction, and this catalyst can maintain almost the same activity after being repeatedly used for 8 times.
