Activity and Stability of Cu Catalyst in Catalytic Wet Air Oxidation of Cyanide-Containing Wastewater

Cu catalysts are prepared by the impregnation, and the activity and stability in the catalytic wet air oxidation(CWAO) of cyanide-containing wastewater are investigated in a batch reactor. CeO2-CuO/γ-Al2O3 catalyst shows the higher activity than CuO/γ-Al2O3 catalyst in the CWAO of cyanide. In a batch reactor, CN-removals are about 90% and 80% after 60 min in the CWAO of cyanide-containing wastewater over Cu catalysts at reaction temperature of 140 ℃, the O2 partial pressure of 0.6 MPa, 600 rpm, CN-initial of about 2 000 mg/L, pH value of about 8 and catalysts dosage of 0.5 g/L. Moreover, the CeO2-CuO/γ-Al2O3 catalyst also exhibits the excellent activity and stability in the CWAO of cyanide-containing wastewater.
