Establishment of a Mathematical Model of Bagasse Steam Gasification Process
Modeling of biomass steam gasification has been investigated taking into account both mass balance and chemical equilibrium. Use this model to simulate the steam gasification operated with bagasse, and good agreement is gained between prediction and measurements for the producer gas. In order to choose a suitable steam to biomass ratio (S/B) value, the model has researched the relationship between S/B value and producer gas, and the result shows that when the S/B value augments from 0.2 kg/kg to 0.3 kg/kg, the lower heat value (LHV) drops slightly from 13.64 MJ/Nm3 to 11.90 MJ/Nm3, but content of H2 increases 19.2% with content of CO decreases about 9.5%, thus, this paper selects S/B=0.3 kg/kg. Moreover, simulation results are presented for different inputs (such as temperature and S/B value). Improving the reaction temperature is helpful for gasification process, and as the S/B value increases, the gas productivity increases while LHV decreases.
