Analyzing spatio-temporal distribution of crime hot-spots and their r elated f actors in Shanghai, China
The analysis method in time and space, the hot spotanalysis is an effective tool to understand the relationship impliedbetween events, for the location of crime hot spots is veryimportant for public safety; the results contribute to a number ofactivities targeted to combat and prevent crime. Locationanalysis is a rather special type of spatial data mining. In thisstudy, we used hotspot analysis tool of ARCGIS9.3, andprocessed the data of theft, robbery monthly in Shanghai in 2009,then we made the crime hot spots attribute maps and identifiedthe dynamic changes over time. In order to find their relatedfactors, we used principal component analysis, analyzed the 18indicators including the floating population density, and foundthe main related factors of the crime hot spots. Finally weprovided the decision-making guide and reference for therational distribution of crime prevention measures in space andthe Selection of key management targets.
