Dynamic Detection of Land Cover Change in Beijing Combining TM and ASTER Images
This paper focuses on the detection of the land coverchange in Beijing using TM and ASTER data collected on 22May, 2002 and 22 April, 2006 respectively. For detailed analyzingthe land cover change in different parts of Beijing, the centralBeijing enclosed by fifth ring road was divided into 4 parts. Afterimage registration, mask and image clip, sample data of landcover as water body, green land, bare land and construction landwere trained, classification was performed using maximumlikelihood method. The conversion matrix was used to detect theland cover change from 2002 to 2006. The results showed thatMost of the areas outside the second ring road were underconstruction almost at a risk of losing lots of green land and baresoil except for the areas within the second ring road and betweenthe third and the fourth ring road.
