Multiscale-based Classification and Coding of Fundamental Geographic Information
Geographic information coding is a fundamentalenabling technology for spatial data organization, which is criticalto the geological information query, retrieval and data mining 1.Currently, the demands of geographic data sharing and updatebecome increasingly urgent, while there is no unified geographicinformation coding standard and application fields are chaos.Based on the insufficiency of traditional coding methods, this paperdiscusses the characteristics of geographic information from theviews of scale, space, semantics and time, puts forward a newcoding model, which expands the current coding methods in scale, spatial, semantic and temporal dimensions. This paper illustratessettlement places fundamental geographic information as theexample, which applies SGST coding model in the settlement placesgeographic database and establishes the multi-scale representationupdate mechanisms.
