The Puncture Properties of PVC Coated Bi-axial Warp Knitted Fabrics
Puncture resistance was the major mechanical properties of coated fabrics, yet the intrinsic material parameters controlling the puncture of these materials were still unknown. This work aimed to investigate the puncture properties of PVC coated biaxial warp knitted fabrics. Two commercial PVC coated bi-axial warp knitted fabrics were investigated. The mechanical behavior and damage forms were analyzed. The results showed that the puncture properties of the PVC coated bi-axial warp knitted fabric strongly depend on the structure of the warp knitted fabric. The puncture failure of composite generally showed an L-shaped tear. The direction of yarn break at first depended on the yarn liner density and density of inserted yarn.
