An analysis of temporal dynamics of Microcystis aeruginosa in eutrophic Lake Kasumigaura by real-time PCR
Lake Kasumigaura is a eutrophic lake in Japan. Surface blooms of Microcystis aeruginosa were observed in Lake Kasumigaura for the first time around the latter half of the 1960s. After 1978 to 1986, the summer blooms occurred every year. Then, the blooms of M. aeruginosa disappeared suddenly after 1987. However, many colonies of M. aeruginosa were visible on the surface of the water in Lake Kasumigaura, recently.
