The assay of toxicity study in two water supply reservoirs,Guiyang, Guizhou
This paper studied on Aha Reservoir and Hongfeng Reservoir, which had been two dominant water supply reservoirs of Guiyang, Guizhou. According to the situation of cyanobacteria water bloom of the two reservoirs, water samples were collected in March, August and September. By identifying, the dominant specie of cyanobacteria water bloom was Aphanizomenon flos-aquae in the two reservoirs in March;in August and September, there was invisible bloom in Aha Reservoir ,but Microcystis aeruginosa water bloom evidently at Hongfeng Reservoir. Microcystin was detected by biology experiment and High Performance Liquid Chromatography. The raw cyanobacteria bloom extract (CBE) was prepared, mice were injected into CBE at the doses of 0(control) and 1ml to study the effects of microcystin on their liver. The result of experimentation of toxicity study demonstrated that the symptom of mouse poisoning of Aphanizomenon flos-aquae water bloom was not obvious. However, the mice had higher relative tumefaction, hyperemia and conglutination of liver as the dosages of Microcystis aeruginosa cell extracts increased compared to the control group. The analysis of HPLC also indicated that cyanobacteria water bloom in August and September had microcystin(MC), whose concentration was between 0.37μg.mg-1 and 0.66μg.mg-1.By calculation, if all of the MC was released into Hongfeng Reservoir, it would rang from 34.7393μg.L-1 to 300.9072μg.L-1,the average value was highest up to 180.4421μg.L-1.The concentration exceeded the reference value(lμg.L-1) excessively, which provided by the 《Drinking Water Sanitary Regulation》(2001) from Ministry of Health. This research showed that on the bloom of cyanobacteria in Hongfeng Reservoir, the content of MC was relatively high. The safety of drinking water in Hongfeng Reservior must be brought to the forefront of public attention.Therefore, some suggestions should be put up for the factors and control of cyanobacteria water bloom.
