Algaecide effect of Rhdococcus sp. on a bloom forming cyanobacterium, Microcystis aeruginosa
Rhodococcus strains are widespread from water to soils, and one of the most common bacteria in the reservoirs of Korea. In Daechung Reservoir, M. aeruginosa dominated in the phytoplankton assemblages from July to August. We isolated Microcystis sp. during bloom season (from July to October, 2007) and identified by 16S rDNA and cpc-IGS region. Isolated Microcystis sp. was identified as M. aeruginosa and designated as M. aeruginosa Mi 0601. We isolated 9 co-cultured bacterial strains during the culture of Mi 0601 in the laboratory.
