Removal of Harmful Metabolites of Cyanobacteria: Microcystins by Microgel-Fe(Ⅲ)and Off-flavors by a Hybrid Powdered Adsorbent
Microgel-Fe(Ⅲ) was synthesized for fast removal of MCs. The response time of the removing process is very short. And it was not interfered as much as activated carbon by organic matter during the application in raw water from Lake Taihu. In the acid condition most of the MCs removed by microgel-Fe(Ⅲ) was degraded. While in the neural or alkaline condition, most of MCs removed were still retention on microgel-Fe(Ⅲ).The microgel-Fe(Ⅲ) could be used as a product microgel-Fe(Ⅲ) membrane for filtration of MCs. And it could be reused through regenerating by 0.1% TFA in methanol. The new material showed a great potential in widely use for removing MCs in MCs contaminated water disposal.
