The Implementation Benefit and Critical Conditions of Municipal Solid Waste Separated Collection
After analyzing its importance and difficult points in actual situation, the effectiveness of implementing separated collection, including the source separate and manual sorting, for municipal solid waste (MSW) was evaluated by using a cost-benefit model. Then the preliminary research and case study on the critical conditions to carry out separated collection was discussed based on the recoverable garbage proportion of MSW in more than dozens of cities. It was concluded that, when the total proportion of four kinds of primary recoverable garbage reaches 30% in MSW, it would be appropriate for implementing separated collection. The result could provide some references for the decision-making on carrying out separated collection of MSW in different cities.
