A Novel Resonant Cavity Photodetector with Dual-absorption Structure
In the past few years, the resonant cavity enhanced (RCE) photodetector has attracted much attention for wavelengthdivision-multiplexing (WDM) optical fibre communication applications due to its narrow spectral linewidth, convenience in coupling, and potential in solving the trade-off between high quantum efficiency and high speed 1. In addition, some novel structures have been employed to meet the WDM systems requirements on wavelength selectivity 2-4. Moreover, to go a step further, we have realised a novel RCE photodetector, which incorporates a dual-absorption structure in it and presents a remarkable improvement on quantum efficiency without imparing other optical properties, especially high speed property.
