A luminescent temperature sensor based on a tapered optical fiber coated with quantum dots

A temperature probe of tapered fiber which is coated with a sol-gel thin films entrapped quantum dots (QDs) is presented. The QDs were trapped into sol-gel and the tapered optical fiber was coated. The change in photoluminescence (PL) intensity is appreciable, linear, and reversible (1%/℃) for temperature changing.
