Benefits of Digital Backpropagation in Coherent QPSK and 16QAM Fibre Links
We investigate the performance of digital backpropagation in wavelength-divisionmultiplexed-(WDM) transmission systems using polarisation-division-multiplexed (PDM) differentially-encoded quadrature phase shift keying (QPSK) and 16-quadrature amplitude modulation (16QAM) for a range of symbol-rates. Digital backpropagation was found to be more effective for the 16QAM than QPSK format.
