Optical Networking and the Network of the Future: views from the European project BONE
BONE Building the future Optical Network in Europe is a Network of Excellence funded by the European Commission. It comprises 49 partners (Academic & Industrial) from across Europe, all having dedicated research groups centered on optical systems and networks. The main objective of the project is to provide the funding for collaboration between the individual research centres through researcher exchanges and joint activities, essentially integrating the existing research strengths of the individual institutions. The project is structured into six Virtual Centres of Excellence Optical Access, Switching & Transmission, Services & Applications, Network Technologies & Engineering, In-building networks and seven topical projects.
