A Study on Microwave Resonance Cavity Sensor for Detecting Cigarette Humidity and Density

The basic theory and the basic principle of microwave resonance cavity detection are dissertated with perturbation method, in this paper. Affected by microwave, electromagnetic parameters of dielectric materials including permittivity and wastage produce corresponding changes, which are also analyzed and discussed in this paper. Then it is established the math expressions about the humidity and density of cigarette, frequency offset and half power point bandwidth of resonance cavity. A type of microwave resonance cavity sensor called repeating-entry model is designed and made, and TM010 resonance model is used to the real-time detection of cigarette humidity and density. It can be obtained from amplitude-frequency peculiarity, which is detected under the conditions of vacuum resonance and cigarette in existence with the swept technique, resonance frequency f ,peak power p and half power point bandwidth ω. According to some relative mathematical formulas ,cigarette humidity and density can be calculated respectively. The detection technique has many advantages such as speediness, continuation, high resolution rate, non-pollution, safe and convenient operation, etc. And it is applicable to industrial survey on the spot.
