A Novel Mixed FDTD Absorbing Boundary Condition Based on Mur and PML

The paper advanced a novel mixed FDTD absorbing boundary condition based on mur and PML, and the analysis of dispersion characteristic of coplanar waveguide (CPW) are presented. The transient propagating waveforms along the CPW, which are excited by retarded gaussian pulse, are found in the time domain. After the time-domain field distributions are obtained, frequency-domain parameters such as the characteristic impedance are calculated using Fourier transformations. The results of theoretical calculation show very good agreement with XFDTD formulation and experimental data over a wide frequency range. And the time of calculation of the FDTD method is about one fourth of XFDTD formulation. So the FDTD method based on mixed absorbing boundary condition has proved to be superior to XFDTD on calculation efficiency.
