Numerical Investigation during Solidification Process of A319 Squeeze Casting

Squeeze casting is an advanced manufacturing process where molten metal is subjected to high applied pressure during cooling and solidification. In the present paper, a set of temperature field equations during solidification process of squeeze casting have been set up. The effects of parameters such as applied pressure and mould preheated temperature on temperature evolution during solidification process have been investigated. By analyzing microstructure of the casting under different applied pressures, it is indicated that the simulated results are basically matched with the experimental results.
