Numerical Simulation of Casting Thermal Stress based on Finite Difference Method

In this paper, a discretization method based finite difference method for solving the equilibrium equations in terms of displacements is presented. This method can deal with the boundary conditions of casting conveniently, just by employing different partial derivatives to correct the inner control volumes discretized equations’ coefficients. A three-dimensional code using this method was developed for solving thermal-elasto-plastic stress during solidification process. As a example, a stress frame casting was simulated by the program. The simulation results are in good accordance with the accepted facts.
