Prediction Method of Shrinkage Cavity and Shrinkage Porosity in Solidification Process under Low-Pressure Casting
The Low-pressure casting is the character of the stable filling and the better ability of feeding. The mechanical property and the quality of aluminum alloy and magnesium alloy can be better improved. According to the theoretical knowledge of heat transfer, a new prediction method of shrinkage porosity and macroporosity was presented through detailed analyzing the shape of shrinkage porosity and macroporosity under low-pressure casting. The rules of the low-pressure casting feeding that is dual-property of both gravity feeding and low pressure feeding, and the effect of the pressure on critical solid fraction were considered in order to conform to the rules of casting solidification under the low pressure. The prediction technology was applied to EasyCast software that is developed by NUC research center of special casting process. At last the shrinkage porosity and macroporosity of casting are better shown by this prediction technology through comparing the simulation results with experiments.
