Quasi-static and dynamic compressive characteristics of tungsten fiber/Zr-based bulk metallic glass matrix composites
Quasi-static and dynamic compressive characteristics of Zr41.25Ti13.75Cu12.5Ni10Be22.5 metallic glass matrix composites reinforced by tungsten fiber were investigated with different strain rates, the results showed that the compressive yield strength of Wf/Zr-based metallic glass matrix composites with fiber volume fraction of 40% was up to 2300 MPa, and the strain was up to 24% under the strain rate of 1×10-4 s-1; Dynamic compressive strength of the composites increased with the strain rate below 3000 s-1, and the fracture mode was mainly shearing and splitting, similar to that of quasi-compression. Moreover, the composites occurs adiabatic shearing fracture under high strain rate. There were melted area on the fracture surface resulted from adiabatic shearing.
