Wear behaviour of Sc-bearing Zr-based amorphous/nano-crystal composite BMG under oil lubrication
Lubricated sliding wear of amorphous (Zr55Cu30Ni10Al5)99.98Sc0.02 /CuZr2 nano-crystal composite bulk metallic glass (BMG) under different loads and velocities was studied with the pin-on-disc test. There was no new phase formation in the structure analysis after the wear test with oil lubrication. The values were within the range of 0.22 to about 0.29 under a 20N load at different sliding velocities. Therefore, the experimental results clearly indicate that the observed friction coefficients can be explained by adhesion wear. This deformation resulted in a higher wear rate and wear coefficient. Worn surfaces also characterized by optical and scanning electron microscopy.
