The Surface Modification of Nano-SiO2 with PMMA Polymer Grafting
Nano-SiO2 surface was firstly encapsulated with a double bond containing silane coupling agent, which was subsequently graft-copolymerized with methacrylic acid monomer. An orthogonal experiment was designed to optimize the polymer grafting process. FTIR, XRD, TEM, DSC-TG were used to analyse the functional group, structure, morphology, the particle size of the modified nano-SiO2. The results showed that the nano-SiO2 surface has been successfully encapsulated by a layer of grafting polymer to form a core-shell structure; the modified nano-SiO2 appears in amorphous structure with an average particle size less than 100nm.
