Study on W- Mo surface metallurgy high speed steel formed by single pulse power supply

Q195 steel was treated by W-Mo surface alloying process using single pulse power supply. And the processes, structures and properties of W-Mo surface alloying process, carburizing and quenching and tempering were systematically investigated. And then the wear tests were conducted. Results show that: the surface alloying process could be realized by single pulse power supply; and the reaction and diffusion layer formed on the surface of Q195 steel; Fe7(W、Mo)6 and Fe3(W、 Mo)were the main phase of the surface. After solid carburizing and quenching at 900 , 940 , 980 and 1020 , the surface carbon content increased as the ℃ ℃ ℃ ℃ carburizing temperature increasing. The carbon content was 1.42%~1.72%. The carbides were fine and well distributed. The type of carbides depended on the temperature of carburizing. The main types were M6C, M2C, MC type. The surface hardness increased as the carburizing temperature increasing in linear relationship. The surface hardness was HV980 when the carburizing temperature was 1020. The ℃ secondary hardening appeared in the tempering process after quenching. The secondary hardening effect was good when the carburizing temperature was high. After surface alloying process, the wear resistance property was improved 6 times compared with quenched and tempered T10 steel.
