Metallic Items` Surface Engineering Due to Friction Plating as an Object of Computer Simulation and Processing Control

About 90% of machinery components are known to break down due to surface wear. One of the most effective ways to improve service properties of steel products is coating them by materials possessing high corrosion resistance, wear resistance, high hardness and other properties. In order to obtain such results, it is developed the method of friction plating (FP) combining the processes of surface strain hardening and plating. Comparison of FP with traditional methods of surface protection, hardening and modification has shown that in certain circumstances FP method has several advantages such as metal and energy saving, elimination of complex and hazardous to personnel operations of surface preparation, high efficiency and productivity of the process and its environmental safety. A good deal of obtained by now experimental results on FP process investigation and industrial application are not organized yet up to the level of a model; thats why they can not be used for development of standard industrial equipment with automatic control of FP process. In this paper, there are presented the description of FP process, its technical advantages and outlook for its industrial introduction. FP process is analyzed, first of all, as an object of computer simulation and processing control.
